CLOUD HOUSE is a surprisingly bold and uplifting blend of Colombian coffee and rum. Its unique sensations celebrate the alchemy of two very different and wonderful worlds: the undulating warmth of the Caribbean Ocean; and the immutable terroir of the Colombian mountains. We source our sultry rum from Colombia’s oldest family-owned producer, who ages it beachside, where sea mist laps across ex-bourbon oak casks, imparting sumptuous, salted caramel notes.
The same humid ocean air rises and gathers just below the peaks of Colombia’s Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains, where we source our 100% Arabica coffee from local growers. Coffee farms, run by relatives of our rum producer, are nestled under this fog, folded into the unkempt jungle, shaded by a natural canopy of overhanging bamboo. Groves are accessible only by dirt roads or hiking trails.
WITH THE UPLIFTING, AUTHENTIC SPIRIT OF COLOMBIA: Veteran growers hand-select beans, plucking only the brightly coloured berries while leaving the green ones to grow. They harvest, roast, and cold-brew coffee at a hidden plantation 4,793 feet above sea level, known locally as the “Cloud House.” When this place reveals itself for the first time during a break in the mountain mist and a clearing in the jungle, it’s completely unexpected. The house itself is sparse, leaving most of the majesty to the landscape, but its appearance here can take a visitor’s breath away.
