Ardbeg is the peatiest, smokiest yet most balanced of all the Islay malts, balancing smokiness with sweetness to provide a wider complexity of taste. Matured for just 5 years, it’s the untamed ‘enfant terrible’ of the whisky world. Whereas most single malts seek smoothness & balance, we know more time in cask can subdue the smokiness.
ON THE EYES: Bright Gold
ON THE NOSE: Intensely smoky on the nose, with a marked freshness characterised by herbs, pear, pine resin and aniseed
ON THE PALATE: Rich and textural, with chocolate, tar and cracked black pepper in the mouth. The finish is long with hints of fudge and savoury meats.
PERFECT SERVE: Enjoy neat, with a little water or 2-3 large rocks of ice
