An attractive amber colour with a hoppy and slightly fruity aroma. We use the best English malt carefully balanced with local Fuggles hops. This is gently fermented to leave some of the malt’s natural sugars, to give a full and satisfying taste with a long, dry finish. TEA was first brewed here in August 1992 by Martin Hunt, the founder of Hogs Back Brewery. After much thought, we finally found the name TEA because it explained exactly what it is – a traditional English beer. Sometimes the simplest things are the best. TEA’s recipe has hardly changed since 1997 when we wanted to participate in a competition for a single variety of hops, but there were two hops in it. So we left the Goldings, which were used for early copper bitterness and decided on the 100% Fuggles. We did not win the competition, but, TEA knew even better! We stayed with it and 3 years later we won the gold in the Best Bitter category at the Great British Beer Festival and were runners-up in Beer Britain, so the decision wasn’t so bad.
