Vergelegen is a historic estate with over 3,000 ha. It has 148 ha worth of vineyards, at an elevation between 140m to 310m above sea level. The estate’s vineyards produce all the wines.
Vergelgen Estate’s wines have been awarded more than 200 medals. These include the Chateau Pichon Langgueville Trophy twice for the Best Bordeaux Blend at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Varietal blend: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
Reddish-purple colour. Claret-like aromas of mocha, blackcurrant, tobacco and chocolate are all present. The wine has an average weight and a noticeable richness. The wine has a balanced acidity and strong spices that compliment the intense berry and spice flavours.
