TASTING NOTES: Ruby red, medium in intensity. The nose is a little timid at first. It delivers aromas of strawberries and raspberries with a touch of vanilla. We can also detect a touch of fresh herbs, such as thyme or oregano. On the palate it is a charming Italian red wine with good acidity with a light finish of cut leather, tobacco leaf and antique wooden furniture.
FOOD PAIRINGS: A good option is pasta with a tomato sauce, such as spaghetti bolognese, lasagna or the slightly spicy puttanesca sauce. We could also opt for spicy Italian cooked meats such as smoked speck or guanciale. Cured or semi-cured cows’ milk cheeses would be great companions to this wine. If we prefer the world of vegetables, we could try a risotto with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach.
THE REGION: Chianti DOCG is probably the best-known Italian wine, and takes the name of a mountainous region in Tuscany, close to Florence. Its history stems from the Etruscans, who were the first to realise that these lands were ideal for viticulture.
